Wedding Questions & Answers

Venue

Is your wedding venue licenced for civil ceremonies?

Yes, wedding prices include a ceremony that can be held at the Wedding Gazebo on the West Lawn or on the West Lawn itself. The whole Gardens are licenced but there is additional cost due to more staff involvement, as the Gardens are open to the general public during the day 10am to 5pm.

Can you provisionally hold a date?

A date can be held for a fee of £500.

What is the capacity for the day and evening?

Seated for a ceremony the maximum is 100, and seated on circular tables for a wedding breakfast is 120. The venue suits smaller weddings as well.

Accommodation & Travel

Is there accommodation onsite or changing facilities?

There is no accommodation on site, click here to see local accommodation. There are no changing facilities other than the general toilets.

Are there taxis readily available?

No there is not a local taxi company, the closest is either Bridport, Dorchester or Weymouth. We suggest you book in advance to avoid a long wait.

Recommended Suppliers & Contacts

Do you have recommended suppliers that have to be used?

There is a recommended suppliers list that is a help for some couples, but they do not have to be used. One of the advantages of the Gardens as a wedding venue only is the flexibility to use your own wedding professionals.

Who will be the contact and coordinator on the day?

In the run up to the day our main office can help with any questions regarding the venue in terms of power, facilities, accommodation etc. They will also agree on a time for couples and the wedding party to set-up and dismantle. On the day, a member of staff will help direct guests to the area of the Gardens for the ceremony but again their role is not to coordinate wedding professionals or run errands. We recommend you hire a wedding co-ordinator if you have many wedding professionals to coordinate and organise.

Facilities & Decoration

Are there any restrictions with decorations?

The set-up and dismantle is to be completed by the couple or a wedding professional such as a wedding styling company. There are not many restrictions, but the Wedding Marquee and West Lawn must be left as when arrived and all props and equipment must be collected promptly.

What size are the tables?

There are circular tables that can seat up to 10 people. The seats are padded and highchairs are available by prior arrangement. Linen and tablecloths are not provided.

What kitchen facilities are there?

There is a small kitchen attached to the Wedding Marquee, it includes running water, freezers and workspace. The space is for a catering professional to use but they must bring all their own appliances. In addition there is a large catering drinks fridge that can be used if running a bar in the marquee itself. Glasses, cutlery, chinaware and cookware are not provided.

Can we bring our own alcohol and is there a corkage fee?

Yes, you can bring your own alcohol, or you can hire in a mobile bar wedding professional. There is currently no corkage fee.

Deliveries

We are happy to accept deliveries, these must be arranged to arrive during working hours 0930-1700.

Is there Wi-Fi to be able to stream music?

There is Wi-Fi available but please check with the office as to the capability.

Is there a green room or an area for the band?
